Just ONE more, Mom!

Max and I had a GREAT morning at the BBS FUN RUN! "Coach M", Max's PE teacher, put on this AWESOME event! Each kid was to run as many 1 mile laps as they wanted. They could stop each time and take a break and come back, just as long as they got their hand marked each time they made it around a lap. As we were driving there, Max said, "I think maybe 2 miles will be my limit, Mom....we'll just see how it goes..."
He ended up REALLY surprising himself (and me!)

Gearing up for the BIG RACE...
Water station....as we were running, he watched as his friends would SPRINT ahead of him and then STOP and walk. I just kept saying, "Slow and steady wins the race, Max."
He said, "Mom! I totally get it, and it's SO TRUE....the tortoise (in the tortoise and the hare) knew exactly what he was doing!"
Hydrating...
Go, Max, Go!
Getting his hand marked each time he ran a lap...
He did it! We ran 5 MILES! After 2 miles, he said, "This really isn't so bad, Mom...let's go one more, we'll do a bathroom break and go again!" Then after 4 miles he said, "We've got this, Mom...we're doing it one more and finishing strong!" We did it, and "high fived" at the finish line!

Oh that's precious! Nathan and Baylee don't have that chance at their school but on their own at home are "training" for the Pat Tillman run in April. THey think it'll be cool ending on the ASU football field. He should join.
