Our 12th anniversary...

While we were in MN, Rich and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary
on July 12!
It was SO cool to be right where we met and got married!
We decided to take a walk down memory lane....
We went to the exact place where our wedding reception was...
Then we went to the place where we had our first kiss....the St. Paul Park

Then the place where we had our first date....Cossetta's Restaurant

Then a place we went a lot while dating....Grand Ole Creamery!

I discovered my favorite ice cream here many years ago....chocolate chip cookie dough!
Happy Anniversary, babe. I love you!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

Max and Luke had a GREAT first day of school! They are both really happy with their teachers and liked seeing all their friends again. Ms. Sauriol (Max's teacher) said to me, "It was a great first day!" Mrs. Crowe (Luke's teacher) informed me that Luke melted her heart...during the school day, he motioned for her to come over so he could whisper to her, "You're nice."

Meet the Teacher!

Luke is SO excited to be in FIRST GRADE with Mrs. Crowe...
He gets his OWN desk this year, gets to bring his snack (unlike shared group snack in Kindergarten), and gets to play on the BIG playground with Max.
Max is ready for 4th grade with Ms. Sauriol!
Such a big boy now...

Happy 4th of July!

We had a great time celebrating the 4th of July with the Rasmussens, Papa and Grandma! We started the day with the annual bike parade at the Rasmussens' neighborhood. We then got together later in the day for swimming, slip and slide, yummy steaks, playing, hanging out, and FUN! We then ended the day at Tumbleweed Park for some awesome fireworks! It was a special day with special family!

What an amazing week at BLAST X-TREME!

The boys and I had an amazing week at our church's Vacation Bible School the week of June 22-26. Creation was the topic and Mad Science was the theme. It's called Blast X-Treme, and it is certainly an extreme blast for everyone! The boys had a great time in their classes with friends, they loved visiting the lab, and made awesome crafts. I had the privledge of serving in the craft lab with Laurie all week. It was so fun to be a part of everything, and watch the boys have so much fun! The songs were amazing, and the talent of our children's ministry staff is unbelievable. God has gifted so many people at our church, and it is a joy seeing Him work through the talented teachers and staff. At the end of the week, there was a Family Worship night. We all had fun singing the songs and watching the skits.
God was definitely glorified this week!

Farewell, dear friend!

The Cornwell family moved to Florida on Tuesday....what a very sad day! I have known Lynn for 6 years, when we met at the gym. Our friendship grew into so much more than just "gym friends". Through the years we discovered how much we had in common! We have birthdays 3 days apart, our children became the best of friends, we both love Jesus, and I can tell her anything, to name a few... I am so thankful that God brought Lynn and I together. She truly is the nicest person I've ever met, and I'm so glad I was able to share a very important season of my life with her. I miss her terribly already.
These are some pictures from the going away party for them last Saturday...

Flashback Friday!

With all this talk of GOLF with Rich's big HOLE IN ONE, I found this cute picture of Max and Rich when Max was only 4. Rich would take him golfing to ride in the cart, and then Max would putt when they would get to the green. Daddy left this morning for the weekend to golf in his buddy, Levi's golf tournament up in Flagstaff! Go Daddy Go!

Hole-in-one!

This past weekend, I went to Denver to play 54 holes of golf with my buddy, Jeff Colvin. He is a member at Blackstone Country Club in Aurora. It is a great club! We had a blast!

We were on the tee at the par 3, 6th hole. The tee box measured at 166, the markers were actually a few steps back, so the official shot was from 174. The pin was up front on this long narrow green...I chose a 7 iron. I hit the ball, and my exact quote to Jeff was, "This might go in the hole for my first hole in one." 2 hops, and in the hole! We had a great view to see it drop! We screamed, jumped, hugged, high-fived, and screamed more! There was a foursome on the next tee that witnessed the hole in one, and about 10 people came out on their decks from houses along the left side of the hole...they heard the commotion! One person at a nearby house called the clubhouse, and reported the hole in one! See the video of the hole below.

We finished the round, and headed in the clubhouse where they were waiting for us. They had the form for me to fill out for the info to be in the paper, etc. I was also the first official hole in one at Blackstone Country Club...they will be making a plaque for the locker room.

Then we headed to the bar to celebrate! The golf course took care of the first round of drinks, and then I did the traditional "drinks on me" at the bar. It was a small group of people, so my tab was only $88.09. Could have been worse!

We had a great day, and great weekend! Thanks Jeff for having me at your club! I will never forget the fun that we had together!

Here is the scorecard...click on it to make it large.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DAD!

Here's to you, Dad, you're one of a kind!
You're such a great man, and I hope you don't mind...

If I go on and boast, 'cuz I think you're the best...
You're fun, sweet, kind, and have a lot of zest!

You're my #1 fan, and that means a lot...
Always encouraging...cheering me along when I'm feeling distraught!

You're always there for me in good times and bad...
Always there for a hug when I'm happy or sad!

Flashback Friday!

Here's a picture from the first ever COUSIN TRIP 5 summers ago when Uncle Adam took Annika and Max to Sea World!
The kids had such an awesome time this year at the resort. The boys can't stop talking about how much fun the water slides were, the fun restaurants they went to, and the fun they had in the hotel room! All the cousins and Uncle Adam were sweet enough to go to "build a bear" and make Sam and Lesia their very own bear since they weren't able to go on the trip. When the boys got home, Sam just kept walking around with his new bear (a puppy dog named "Puppy") saying, "Thank you my present!" and "I missed you, Max.....I missed you, Luke".

...and they're off!

For the past 4 summers, Adam has taken the cousins on a summer trip! They have been to Sea World, the beach in San Diego, Legoland, Knots Berry Farm, and this year it is The Pointe Resort here in Phoenix! You have to be 5 years old to go on the "Cousin Trip", and this is the first year Luke is able to go!
What a wonderful tradition Uncle Adam has with the kids. The boys were BURSTING with excitement waiting for 12:00 to come (when they left)!

Summer Haircuts!

A huge THANK YOU to Grandma Joan for cutting Max and Luke's hair! We like to buzz it off for summertime! There was a lot of hair blowing around in the backyard!

Our Sunday Summer Tradition Started Today!!!

We started our Sunday Summer Tradition today of Souper Salad and serving in Sunday School! Every summer we serve in Children's Ministries teaching Sunday School. We also eat lunch at our favorite restaurant, Souper Salad on Sundays! What makes THIS summer EXTRA special, is that we get to ALL teach in SAM'S Sunday School class! We are teaching 19- 36 month olds at the 4:00 service - a very WIDE range of ages of toddlers! We learned very quickly that a sit down "lesson" wasn't really going to work - so we are just working on the children grasping that GOD MADE EVERYTHING! If they can say that by the end of the summer, we will have succeeded! The children were PRECIOUS, and we had so much fun with them (it was like herding cats most of the time!).
Sam just LOVED having mommy and daddy as his teachers; and Max and Luke as his helpers. It was really fun to meet the other teachers helping us out, and all the kiddos we get to teach!!
It's going to be a GREAT summer!
